Aides Memoire
We produce two Aides Memoire – a standard M/ETHANE version and an IOR (Initial Operational Response) version. Both Aides Memoire are pocket guides that have been laminated for durability, they open up to provide those working in emergency response with a rapid access to essential information.
Aides Memoire are designed to help responders remember the critical information required when responding to incidents. They are excellent teaching aids when delivering JESIP training, as well as an important tool to assist when faced with a real-life emergency. They are also a great way to build muscle memory.

Ten Second Triage Tool (A6 Pocket sized with rounded corners for safety)
The Ten Second Triage tool is a quick and effective resource designed to help responders determine triage priorities based on incident characteristics. It provides a clear step-by-step process with ‘yes’ and ‘no’ responses guiding the decision-making for categorising patients as P1 (immediate priority), P2 (urgent priority), P3 (delayed priority), or Deceased. Clinical instructions are highlighted in bold to ensure clarity.
Incorporating the METHANE Model
The tool integrates the METHANE model, which provides a structured and organized approach for managing the initial stages of any multi-agency or major incident:
- M – Major incident declared.
- E – Exact location.
- T – Type of incident.
- H – Hazards present.
- A – Access routes.
- N – Number of casualties.
- E – Emergency services required or present.
Patient Categorisation
The tool also includes options to record the number of patients in each triage category:
- P1 (Immediate).
- P2 (Urgent).
- P3 (Delayed).
- Deceased (Not breathing).
Numbers can be recorded from 1 to 19 for each category, ensuring responders can quickly log and track casualties.
This tool is designed to provide structure, clarity, and efficiency in high-pressure situations, supporting responders in saving lives and prioritizing care effectively.
